Shadowbane: Final Impression

Quite different from the first impression.

Would you pay for a car if the engine wasn't finished

The answer should easily be no.

Unfortunately this is a situation where the buyers were conditioned to buy before the game was released based upon potential; shame on the buyers.

UBI is probably laughing all the way to the bank right now on their roll-out surge in sales, I bet they start crying to the bank soon if they cannot address the issues portrayed in this thread.

you listed all of the problems, but you didnt list that most of them are extremely rare occurances for most people and some of which have been fixed already.

You definitly make it sound like a good argument, but im sorry deyth. The game has been improving itself whether you refuse to beilive it or not, and while its going to take a few more months to polish it off (hopefully) it was not worth leaving, it was not THAT bad as you aim to make it sound.

Why don't you write up your counter-argument in the same format? I'll publish it.

i hate writing, i stick to my formats here, short and sweet.

Dont get me wrong though, i do think ubi had there thumb up there ass during beta and its showing now. you cant expect them to stay in business with a customer base that is simply "quitting" due to bugs though. Things are changing deyth, and you know it. Dont use the "this game sucks" excuse. Quit the game now if you really want, and when it gets fixed maybe youll come back and ill have another opportunity to take a few more of your heads with me. Until then ill be working up my huntress alt.

No, I don't know that. I have the longest perspective on Shadowbane anyone can have outside of Wolfpack. I saw it from the first day of beta up until now. Don't believe me, you'll see for yourself.

LOL What's been changing?

Tell me what?

Sure, there are SOME changes, but those changes are accompanied by NEW errors and bugs.

I can tell you what's been changing. Additional lag that wasn't there the first 3 weeks of live. SB.EXE errors are more rampant than ever. Login server problems have plagued every single day of play for the last 2 weeks. This game stability has actually gotten WORSE since release.

You may preach you hate writing, Rikuto, but you sure don't practice it. If you have a real point to make, put a few minutes together and write something up that actually has basis in fact. Deyth offered to put your words up on a website that gets thousands of hits a day. Take advantage.

LoginBane

First off, im not the BIGGEST fan of pvp, but I enjoy it as a casual player, fuck off if you come down on my because im not a leet hardcore pvp'er.

Maybe a different view to this, but i thought SB was a great fucking game. But the bugs and piece of shit servers will kill SB.

SB would be a great game if all these major bugs had been removed, and the servers wheren't gerbil powered.

Gotta look though all the shit to see the greatness this game has.

But im not gonna fucking pay 13 dollars of my hard earned money for a game thats clearly still in beta.

I gave this game a good enough chance, and yeah realeases aren't perfect but holy shit, SB release could make a run at AO's release as worst release ever.

I went back to fucking DAOC, at least its a stable game, yeah sure theres many other problems, but at least I get to fucking play the game I am paying for, even if im being screwed over by overpowered characters.

Next in Line: World of Warcraft

DON'T FUCK UP IT BLIZZARD

Ahem

I tried to warn people about this game for months while it was still in beta on my site at pker.org. People that went to my site and were in beta warned people for months about this game.

The warnings were so strong, Ubisoft threatened to sue me...twice heh.

Too bad you're out some cash. Be more cautious the next time.

You covered most of it Deyth. I still think Ubisoft and Wolfpack are thieves. Blantant fuckin' thieves. The Pre-release sale was the height of corruption, these pricks knew this turd would never float, and they sold those pre-release, empty boxes, anyway.

Ubisoft is a french company... go figure, but Wolfpack is U.S. so maybe they can be held liable. We'll see.

We, as gamers, continue to get what we pay for. Wolfpack, the entire company, should be audited and checked for citizenship then deported to France or something. They'd fit in well there.

During release the number one pet peeve that affected EVERYONE was two sets of memory leaks that would completely engulf your computer every hour and a half making it impossible to move, and constent freezes and lockups. both of these have been fixed. granted there is still a pain in the ass memory leak, but that takes... what, four or five hours to come into effect?

Yes, you played since beta. You didnt play at release though, you waited until your guild got sucked in from the members playing under PRX. So your perspective on things is a bit fuzzy as for what exactly HAS been fixed off the bat.

Ever since those two problems have been fixed, neither of them has been cropped up in a worse case scenario, its only been getting better.

Now for the login problems. Every couple of weeks the login servers go bonkers for about half a week and up. Every couple of weeks, ok, this is the longest standing issue still in the game so far. You think the gerbil powered servers are going to be like this forever? Maybe if you go off into one of your dramatically stretched articles. In the real world though, they are prone to be fixed quite soon, because you know what happens if they are not? The customers stop paying. Ubi may be ignorant, but not stupid. They will spend only as much as they need to spend to keep an active fanbase as large as possible and happy.

The other main issue right now is sb.exe errors. Of course this is annoying. People are quiting over it, and ubi is feeling the heat. Soon there will be a fix over it because no people = no money = no ubi.

So you say customer support is a joke? Probably. Tell me this, deyth.... how often is customer support NOT a joke? daoc's customer support? the biggest laugh on the face of the planet. EQ's? hah. UO's? dont make me laugh. AO? wait a second... do they even HAVE customer support? /boggle.

Yes customer support is shitty. It always is. Its a fact of life. Get over it.

You know what else was a pet peeve of mine? when the game first came out everything i saw was a texture without color. you know what happened two days later? a patch that fixed that and all the freezups. Well now i guess they actually do fix things when there is a demand huh?

Another thing, events. WP could simply let the players control the worlds and wouldnt have to do any of the work, but instead they have events like the chaos one coming up. They dont have to do that, but they are going to. Why? because they are evil? no, a lot of the developers play the game and like to do fun things with it. they hate the glitches as much as we do, and are more prone to fix them.

Sorry if you are a bunch of impatient fucks who would rather play a month then sit the rest of the year with your thumbs up your asses, when you get the balls to play a game let me know and ill be sure to drop by and gank some of you.

Yes Night, Ubisoft is a french company. At start the Guillemot brothers build a software company then they start to produce hardware and create the Ubisoft Company for software and publishing only (games). Then they buyed Thrustmaster / Hercules Company to have Strong hardware names, better to sell products all around the world and especially on Us territory. They have some studios in different country, Usa, Canada, Montpellier near me where i passed some tests as level designer, etc.

For Sb Ubi is the publisher, they sold the rights of the game all around the world to some company Swing for Europe, but Swing crashed and beta and european relase was cancelled til...

Its why the european are not allowed to play on Us servers, its bad and only a marketing way.

I can see your point Rikuto in playing since there isnt anything else to play. But none the less, who the fuck are you to tell them what they should or shouldnt be playing? If they enjoy DAoC over SB... what is it to you? Are you so eager to try and prove that your epenis is large by attempting to kill Combine members? Are you such a fucking loser in real life that you have genuine contempt for a group of people that like playing a GAME in a virtual world?

Its impossible for you to hide your bias in the shit talking you do on this board. Its very evident that you have something against Combine and thus, no matter what the reasons, no matter how bad the game really is, they are just a bunch of pussies who dont really want to play a game because they are afraid of your machismo. Are you for real? Could you be a bigger douche bag?

Lets try this on for size. Why dont you go play your game, and then instead of being the closet Combine fanboi you are making yourself out to be by board warrioring here, you go step outside and smell some fresh air. Im sure it may be hard to pull yourself away from these boards.... but I have faith in you.

See you in game
