Wow nice... how much porn can you browse per second with that thing? [posted by Unknowing] It clocks at about 4,296 tits per second. [Damelon's reply]

Good article. Although I dream of the perfect game, I know it will be quite incomplete for a while. Hopefully its not near as bad as daoc though...

I'm anxious to see what WP will show us on the 12th =)

You know what's coming, don't you? Someone is going to post "How come you couldn't be so patient for DAoC?" Who will it be?

I agree. Shadowbane has been touted so highly, that it is almost sure to fall short of alot of peoples expectations. This past summer was the worst. Between the months of April and August, I saw more SB hype then I have seen in a long time. I guess people at that time still thought it was going to release in 2001, and were starting to get really excited about it.

I think the other major issue with Shadowbane is this constantly slipping release date. I understand they are attempting to take the high ground much like Blizzard, and not release the game until it is done for sure, but they should be careful. Blizzard has a proven track record, and people will "wait" for a Blizzard game, not to mention that Blizzard games tend to take much less commitment from the player then Shadowbane or any MMORPG does. Wolfpack needs to hurry things up, and at least get to a semi-open beta stage so that peoples interest is piqued again. If it isn't, they will choose another game to bandwagon on to, and SB will start to lose some of its fan base.

With SB being such a niche title, losing a large portion of your loyal fan base could seriously hurt the chances of the game being succesful.

Actually all shadowbane has to do is beat the competition. The game certainly have a very good chance to do that. The only way people have built the game up is by expecting it to be the next game to move onto, and shadowbane will has a large base of players waiting to come over from EQ, DAOC, and maybe Diablo 2.

I really doubt most of the shadowbane community has these unrealistic expectations of the game. Besides going crazy forming guilds, planning everything like that is normal for any game. I've experienced it in many game communities (blizzard, and for the Horizons community... jeez they have some ambitious projects considering the game is way off still... D: )

This type of behavior is common for any popular game, infact for Blizzard it's 10 times worse. Their games appeal to most everyone, and can run on basically any computer. Believe me I worked in the blizzard community for a while running a popular fan site. Their fans are way worse than Wolfpack's.

Having a huge community that is rabid for a game GOOD for wolfpack, IMHO.

I think SB will attract MMORPG fans no matter how long it takes, and though it might not be EVERYTHING people might want it to be, people will get it just to try the game.

As I wait for a Robert Jordan, R.A. Salvatore or George R.R. Martin novel from a series of books, I know it could be better or worse than the last novel, but I will still buy it just to see what it will offer in the end. I feel it's the same for any game I buy as well.

on another note....

I still feel that Gemstone III and DragonRealms were the two greatest MMORPG's I have played for Roleplaying purposes. Although SB might come close to replacing these, I haven't gotten my hopes up too high.
